Description

SocialWork 2000 are looking for an experienced Senior Practitioner (Social Worker) to join the Children with a Disability Team based in Dunstable, Bedfordshire. Pay rate: £32ph 

About the team:

We are a specialist service that offers support to children with disabilities aged 0 to 18 and their families. We work closely with other services such as health, education and community organisations. The team consists of a Senior Practitioner, 4 Social Workers and 2 Social Work Assistants.

Senior Practitioners are responsible for meeting the statutory duties of the Local Authority in respect of children who are in need of support, protection and in the care of the Local Authority - Children Act 1989.  Additional responsibilities to contribute to the completion of Education, Social Care and Health Plans are contained in the Children and Families Act 2014 together with the legal duty for Local Authorities to publish a ‘Local Offer’ of short break services to Children with Disabilities and their families. For Children with Disabilities Services, additional specific legal responsibilities relate to the assessment and review of Short Break Services. 

Tasks:

  • Undertake the duties of a Social Worker Level 2 with the most complex and challenging cases to achieve best outcomes for children & young people
  • Challenge the practice of colleagues and professionals to promote effective and safe professional practice
  • Advise, guide and coach colleagues, encouraging critical self reflection, to enable them to deliver best outcomes for children & young people
  • Provide Supervision using the Supervision Policy to students, ASYE Social Workers and unqualified staff (with the assurance that any case supervision has management oversight) so that risk, performance and staff development are effectively managed
  • Assess the performance of ASYE social workers and social work students against the published criteria and support them to bridge any identified shortfall
  • Undertake delegated management responsibilities (including complaints management, ambassadorial roles etc) as requested from time to time

Requirements:

  • 3 years post qualifying experience
  • Qualified Social Worker BA/DipSW/CQSW or equivalent
  • Current registration with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Must be a car driver
  • Need fieldwork experience in statutory children's services; experience of children with disabilities is preferable,
